Mississauga is one of the easiest places in North America to eat halal. Zabihah alone lists more than 350 halal restaurants in the city. This guide narrows that down to 12 worth your time: Lahori karahi, Yemeni mandi, Turkish food recognised by the MICHELIN Guide, halal Hakka and Lanzhou noodles, and two steakhouses. Most of the city’s halal dining clusters around Ridgeway Plaza, Dixie Square and the Erin Mills and Meadowvale areas.

We checked each restaurant against the HMA certified directory and Zabihah’s halal records, then went through its Google listing and recent reviews. Two restaurants that appeared on earlier versions of this list are no longer here. Laari Adda is now permanently closed, and Walima is marked temporarily closed.

How we checked these restaurants

Halal restaurants in Mississauga certifications: HMA certified Mississauga standards for halal food Mississauga

Each restaurant carries one of these labels:

  • HMA certified

the Halal Monitoring Authority lists the outlet in its public directory.

  • Fully halal, certified

Zabihah records the whole menu as certified halal, but the certifier isn’t named publicly.

  • Fully halal, owner stated

the restaurant says all its meat is halal, with no certifier named.

We also list alcohol where it’s on record. Certification is given to specific addresses, not whole brands, and it can change. Check hmacanada.org or ask the restaurant before you order.

1. Zauq

Dixie Square

4.613,800 reviews
Fully halal, certificate on displayNo alcohol
Best for
Groups who can’t agree
What to order
Chicken karahiBBQ family platterFish pakoraHakka noodles

Zauq has close to 14,000 Google reviews at 4.6. The draw is the menu: Pakistani karahi and BBQ on one side, Indo Chinese Hakka on the other, so the family member who wants chilli chicken and the one who wants karahi can both be happy. The chicken karahi and the BBQ family platter are the orders that come up most in reviews.

The room is modern and there are express lunches on weekdays. Zauq also has a catering business and an event space. The common complaint is waiting to be served when it’s busy, so give yourself time on a Friday night.

2. Butt Karahi

Winston Churchill and Dundas

4.74,600 reviews
Fully halal, owner statedAlcohol not stated
Best for
Karahi purists
What to order
Butt special chicken karahiGoat karahiLahori fish

Butt Karahi started in Lahore in 1979, and the Mississauga branch brings that Lahori karahi tradition to the GTA. Reviewers name the chicken karahi most often, followed by the goat karahi and the Lahori fried fish. The chicken cheese roll is a popular starter.

The dining room is large and suited to families. At 4.7 from about 4,600 reviews, it’s one of the best rated Pakistani restaurants in the city. There’s a second branch at Ridgeway Plaza. The restaurant says it is 100% halal with fresh cut meat but doesn’t name a certifier, so ask if that matters to you.

3. The Kebob

Derry Road East

4.11,000 reviews
HMA certified, except dishes made with payaAlcohol not stated
Best for
A no fuss meal near the airport
What to order
Beef kebabsLamb chopsKarahi

The Kebob is a long running, locally owned Pakistani spot in a Malton strip plaza, a few minutes from Pearson Airport. HMA certifies every item on the menu except dishes made with paya (trotters), and that’s the kind of detail worth knowing before you order. Beef kebabs, ribs, lamb chops and karahi are the usual orders.

It’s a laid back place rather than a destination restaurant, and reviews are mixed on consistency, with one recent diner calling the rice overcooked and the chicken pieces small. The kebabs are the safer bet.

Afghan, Yemeni and Turkish

4. Afghan Flame

Erin Centre

4.710,800 reviews
Fully halal, certifiedNo alcohol
Best for
Birthdays and big dinners
What to order
Meat lovers platterMixed grill kabab platterLamb chops

Afghan Flame calls itself halal fine dining, and with almost 11,000 reviews at 4.7, it has the numbers to back it up. The platters are the reason to go. The meat lovers platter and the mixed grill platter each come loaded with kabobs, chicken and grilled vegetables, alongside naan, salad and rice. Reviewers single out the lamb chops too.

Service gets frequent praise, and it’s the most obvious halal choice in Mississauga for a celebration without alcohol on the tables. It opens at 11am. There’s a second location on Tomken Road.

5. Mama Fatma

Meadowvale

4.53,900 reviews
Fully halalNo alcoholMICHELIN Guide
Best for
Families, big groups
What to order
Kayseri mantıPide from the wood ovenMeze platter with ezme and pembe sultan

Mama Fatma is in the 2026 MICHELIN Guide, and the inspectors picked out the same things regulars love: kebabs charred over coals, pita that puffs up in the wood burning oven, and small beef dumplings in garlicky yogurt (kayseri mantı). The mixed meze platter, with baba ghanoush, ezme and pembe sultan, is a good way to start.

Portions are generous and the family platters are built for sharing, which is why the MICHELIN Guide describes it as a hit with large groups. It’s in the Meadowvale North Shopping Centre.

6. Monasaba

Dundas Street West

4.66,600 reviews
Fully halal, certifiedNo alcohol
Best for
Takeout, feeding a crowd
What to order
Lamb mandiChicken mandiShahi Adani tea

If you’ve only had mandi once, Monasaba is where to try it again. More than 700 reviews mention the lamb, which is slow cooked and served over spiced rice with fried onions. The chicken mandi is the lighter option. Finish with a cup of Shahi Adani, the sweet Yemeni milk tea.

This Dundas West branch is small, with limited seating, and most people take their food home. At 4.6 from about 6,600 reviews, it’s one of the most popular halal spots in the city. Monasaba also has a branch at Ridgeway Plaza.

7. Mandi Afandi

Dixie Square

4.35,000 reviews
Fully halal, certifiedNo alcohol
Best for
Late dinners
What to order
Lamb mandiChicken mandiFish

Mandi Afandi is Monasaba’s main rival for Yemeni slow cooked meat, and it has one clear advantage: it stays open until 1am. Reviewers praise the lamb, chicken and fish for being soft and full of flavour, and the room has a relaxed Gulf style feel.

The weak point is speed. One recent reviewer waited 45 minutes after ordering, so don’t come starving. It shares Dixie Square with Zauq, which makes the area an easy stop for a late meal.

Chinese and Seafood

8. Royal Jasmine

Dixie Road

4.26,700 reviews
HMA certified, every menu itemAlcohol not stated
Best for
Hakka cravings, weekday lunch
What to order
Manchurian chickenCrispy beefHakka noodles

HMA certifies every item on Royal Jasmine’s menu, and the restaurant has been open since 2009. The menu is Hakka with Thai touches, and reviewers keep naming the Manchurian chicken, crispy beef and Hakka noodles. Weekday lunch specials come with soup, veg rolls, rice or noodles and a meat dish.

The plaza setting is low key, but reviewers mention a good parking lot. It holds a 4.2 from about 6,700 reviews.

9. Sun Chinese Cuisine

Ridgeway

4.6850 reviews
HMA certified, every menu itemAlcohol not stated
Best for
A bowl of noodles near Ridgeway Plaza
What to order
Lanzhou beef noodle soup

Sun Chinese Cuisine recently earned HMA certification. It’s a noodle shop first. The owner describes fresh handmade Lanzhou noodles in a slow simmered beef broth, and that’s the dish to order.

It’s smaller and newer to the halal scene than the other places here, with about 850 Google reviews, but the 4.6 rating is strong. It closes at 9pm, earlier than most of its neighbours.

10. Mermaid Fish and Grill House

Ridgeway Plaza

4.42,300 reviews
Fully halal, certifiedNo alcohol
Best for
Seafood, sharing
What to order
Alexandria mix platterGrilled calamariSayadya rice

Mermaid cooks Egyptian style seafood, and it’s one of the most popular restaurants at Ridgeway Plaza. The Alexandria mix platter comes with crispy shrimp, calamari and a fish fillet over sayadya, the spiced brown rice from Egypt’s coast. The house lemon and garlic sauce is worth asking for.

Reviewers often mention the owners, who are hands on and friendly. It closes at 9pm, so plan an earlier dinner.

Steakhouses and Grills

11. Blackstone Steakhouse and Grill

Erin Mills Parkway

4.46,300 reviews
Fully halal, certifiedNo alcohol
Best for
Date night, steak lovers
What to order
Halal steak on the lava stoneLambBurgers

Blackstone serves its halal steaks sizzling on a hot lava stone, so you finish cooking each slice at the table. The menu goes beyond steak to lamb, chicken, pasta and burgers, and reviewers mention the desserts too.

It takes reservations on OpenTable, which is handy for weekends. It holds a 4.4 from about 6,300 reviews, and there’s also a Brampton branch.

12. Jaffy’s Premium Grill

Argentia Road

4.1950 reviews
HMA certified, every menu itemAlcohol not stated
Best for
Buffet, hungry groups
What to order
BuffetRib eyeBeef back ribs

Jaffy’s is the answer if you’re searching for a halal buffet in Mississauga. Diners describe the spread as steak, BBQ ribs, fried chicken and fried fish. Off the menu, reviewers mention the rib eye and the beef back ribs with baked potato. HMA certifies every item.

Service is the weak spot. One reviewer waited more than an hour for food with no update, and the 4.1 rating reflects that. Go when you have time, not on a lunch break.

Where to find halal food in Mississauga

Ridgeway Plaza, at Eglinton Avenue and Ridgeway Drive in Churchill Meadows, is the heart of halal Mississauga. It has more than 115 restaurants and bills itself as North America’s largest halal food market. Many places stay open late, and it gets especially busy during Ramadan. Mermaid, Sun Chinese Cuisine and branches of Butt Karahi and Monasaba are all in or next to it.

Dixie Square, at Dixie Road and Eglinton, is the east side hub, with Zauq and Mandi Afandi in the same plaza and Royal Jasmine a short drive down Dixie.

Erin Mills and Meadowvale hold the sit down favourites: Afghan Flame, Blackstone, Mama Fatma and Jaffy’s.

Malton, along Derry Road East near the airport, has older Pakistani restaurants like The Kebob.

Tips for eating halal in Mississauga

  1. Check the exact address on HMA. Certification covers a specific outlet. For example, Karahi Point’s HMA listing is for its Waterloo branch, not every location.
  2. Read the fine print. The Kebob’s HMA listing excludes paya dishes. Most people never notice exclusions like that, so skim the listing before you order.
  3. Go to Ridgeway Plaza with a plan. With more than 115 restaurants, it’s easy to walk in circles. Pick two or three places, and go early on weekends, because parking fills up fast.
  4. Expect crowds at iftar. During Ramadan, places like Zauq, Mandi Afandi and anything at Ridgeway are packed at sunset. Order ahead or arrive before the adhan.
  5. Confirm it’s open. Two restaurants still showing on many Mississauga lists, Laari Adda and Walima, are now permanently or temporarily closed.
